The official U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition begins. This is the championship of
sandcastle building where the professional sand carvers vie for the title of Master's

festivities conclude when the teams are presented with titles and cash prizes presented at
the Awards ceremony. Sculptures are only available for viewing until 4:00pm due to the

Family Campout - Poway

Bring the family out to Lake Poway for an adventure
under the stars. The campouts are perfect for the first-time camper with easy
round-the-clock vehicle access. Activities include a fun interpretive program, free pedal
boating and night hikes. Families will need to bring their own camping supplies and food
to barbecue. There will be grills available, but you are encouraged to bring your own.
Families may start setting up their campsites at 7:00 am. Cost: $52 Residents / $62

line operated in San Diego For each Saturday in July and August, come join us as we
celebrate travel and transportation in the era of real horsepower – before the train
and automobile. Imagine yourself traveling down dusty dirt roads either by horse, wagon,
or stagecoach making your way to San Diego in the 1860s. In addition to the permanent
collection of historic wagons on display at Seeley Stable museum, coaches and wagons will
be out in plaza. Stay the day and enjoy activities that reflect life in San Diego during
the mid-1800s. Each week will offer a different theme and activities. The activities are

Grunion are small silvery fish about 5-inches long
that spawn in the spring and summer months. They come ashore with the tide to lay eggs in
the wet sand and return to the ocean with the next wave. The fish are to be caught only by
hand. A fishing license is required for persons age 16 and older.
