AMY STRONG CASTLE / Mt Woodson Castle

Amy Strong Castle / Mt Woodson Castle: Amy Irene Strong, a San Diego socialite and dress designer for the upper-class, commissioned the 12,000 square-foot, 27-room adobe craftsman-style home to be built at the foot of Mt. Woodson near Ramona, CA. Completed in 1921, it took 5 years, at a cost of $50,000. In addition to the main house there are four guest cottages, a house for the help, a garage and several outbuildings, and a picnic area with outhouse. Currently the castle is run as a special-events venue by the Mt. Woodson Golf Club.

BORDER FIELD STATE PARK

Border Field State Park: Border Field is located within the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, an important wildlife habitat. The park provides restrooms, picnic areas, barbecues, horse corrals, and interpretive displays. Visitors can enjoy surf fishing, beach combing, hiking, horseback riding, and bird watching. Swimming or wading is not recommended.

CORONADO BAY BRIDGE

Coronado Bay Bridge:  The San Diego city side is located in the neighborhood of Logan Heights at I-5. The bridge is 11,179 feet long (2.1 mi) with a maximum height of 200 feet. The center lane of the five-lane roadway is reserved as a safety median and a reversible lane to provide three lanes of peak-hour traffic. The pillars supporting the bridge on the eastern end are painted with huge murals as part of Chicano Park, the largest collection of Chicano art murals in the world.

DEL MAR FAIRGROUNDS

Del Mar Fairgrounds: The Fairgrounds and Horsepark are the sites of nearly 350 events each year.
