Agua Caliente

Agua Caliente Park is best known for its geothermally heated springs. Three naturally fed pools provide different ways of enjoying the park's mineral water. A very popular park during the winter

Dos Picos

Dos Picos is surrounded by ranchland and steep rocky slopes, which help preserve its secluded atmosphere. The peaceful, shady park is well suited for campers and picnickers. Camping sites include partial hook-up sites, tent sites, and a youth group area. 2 cabins available.

Guajome

A developed campground that offers partial hook ups, a caravan pavilion, shade and afternoon ocean breezes.

35 camping sites, 1 cabin:

  • 35 partial hookups (trailers, motorhome up to 45 ft, campers, tents)
  • Cabin for rent

Caravan pavilion, 2 fishing ponds, multi-use non-motorized trails, playgrounds, basketball court, lots of green lawn ideal for picnicking or just relaxing, and a wedding gazebo. Only 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

Lake Morena

This 3250 acre park offers something for every outdoor enthusiast: hiking, picnicking, camping, a spectacular lake for fishing, and a new playground. No sanitary dump station at the park.

86 camping sites:

  • 58 partial hookup (maximum length 60 ft)
  • 28 non-hookup (trailers/campers/tents)
  • 1 youth group area (up to 48)
  • 10 wilderness cabins (sleeps maximum of 5 /4 adults)

A limited number of tent sites are available, PTC Hikers get first dibs. Enclosed pavilion, hiking, fishing, boating.

Potrero

RV, tent, and group camping. Much of the 115-acre park consists of picnic areas. Hot showers are available for campers staying at one of the 39 RV sites or at one of the tent sites.

Sweetwater Summit

500-acre regional park offers modern campsites, including some with corrals. Campers, trailers, motor homes, and tent camping are all options at the sites, all of which have water and electricity. Trailers as long as 45 feet will find plenty of room. Hot showers are available for all campers.

  • 3 full hookups (back-in trailers and motorhomes to 45 feet)
  • 14 partial hookups (trailers and motorhomes to 34 ft., campers, tents back-in)
  • 4 equestrian back-ins, 2 corrals (10x10 corral), trailers and motorhomes to 34 ft

Vallecito

71-acre county park built around a reconstruction of the historic Butterfield Stage Station. The 44 primitive campsites (no hookups) have tables, fire rings, and barbecue stoves. Water is available at scattered locations throughout the campground. Large covered picnic area. There are no supplies at the campground. Pets are permitted.

Camping sites:

  • 22 non-hookup sites (trailers and RVs to 40 ft., campers, tents)
  • 22 tent camping sites (tents only)
  • 8 equestrian areas: open to campers with horses and horse trailers. Each site offers 2 corrals, but no water and no electricity.
  • 1 youth area (up to 35)
  • Group site - caravan up to 15 RVs

Hours: Open Labor Day weekend through the last week in May; closed during the summer months. Camping, 24 hours/day. Day use, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., extended to sunset on the weekends.

William Heise

929-acre park is one of the few county parks to get snowfall each year. Trailer sites, restrooms with showers, a caravan camping area, individual tent sites, a group-tent camping area and a family picnic area are available. Miles of scenic hiking and equestrian trails. Playground, restrooms, showers.

103 camping sites:

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

117 camping sites:

  • 52 provide RV full hook-ups, max RV size 35 ft.
  • 63 non-hookup sites with a max. RV size of 25
  • 5 group campsites for up to 24 people (minimum of 9)
  • Some tent sites provide tent pads 12'x 12' on soft sand.

Open camping is allowed anywhere throughout Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The campground is located near the park visitor center. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park now offers AT&T Wi-Fi service.

Tamarisk Grove Campground

Located in the central part of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park about 18 miles south of Borrego Springs at Highway S-3 & Highway 78. Tree-shaded campground open year round.

27 camping sites:

  • 27 campsites suitable for both tent and RV style camping. Max Camper Length: 35 Ft. Primitive camp spots can be found at nearby Yaqui Well and Yaqui Pass

Bow Willow Campground

Remote, primitive campground in the south part of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

16 camping sites

Chemical toilets. Picnic tables and fire rings are throughout the campground. Sites are available on a first come, first served basis, no reservations accepted.

Cuyamaca Rancho State Park

Camping and hiking in an oak woodland forest & meadows with creeks. Two family camps, Paso Picacho and Green Valley, are open spring through fall.

Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area

This is an ATV playground. This area gets rowdy, especially weekends, nights, and holidays. Dusty, noisy, party atmosphere.

Open camping:

You can camp anywhere, with no restrictions, no fees. Unlimited primitive camping opps. The park has pay showers, picnic tables, shade ramadas, and fire rings. No water. Warning…you have to be careful your campsite doesn't get run over at night. Bring earplugs.

FYI: Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve
WARNING: Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a day-use park only.

NO CAMPING:

There is no overnight camping facility. Picnicking and camping are prohibited in the reserve-- no food or drinks at all. Picnics are permitted on the beach only. Torrey Pines prohibits dogs anywhere within the reserve and beach boundaries (even within a vehicle).

Hours of Operation: Gates open at 8:00 am and close at Sunset.

San Clemente State Beach

The campsite is a landscaped blufftop with picnic areas. Trails lead down to the beach.

160 sites:

  • 72 with electrical (50 amp), water, and sewage hookups. Max camper length: 30 feet. Pull-through sites. Campsites 57-72 overlook the canyon and the ocean.
  • Tents are allowed on the hook-up sites in this park.
  • A group camping area can handle 50 people (9 minimum to book) and 20 vehicles, trailers included.

Hot showers, flush toilets, a sink area, picnic area, fire ring, shade trees, telephone.  Dogs OK.

San Elijo State Beach

Bluff top camping with views of the Pacific Ocean. North San Diego County area. Stairway leads down to the beach.

San Onofre State Beach

A 3,000-acre scenic coastal-canyon park. There are 2 distinct campgrounds here: San Onofre Bluffs near the San Onofre Nuclear Plant, and San Mateo Campground, on Cristianitos, just south of San Clemente.

San Onofre Bluffs

Camping and day-use parking along Old Highway 101 adjacent to the sandstone bluffs. Six rugged dirt trails lead down to the beach. Careful if you've got kids--trail 6 leads down to a "nude" beach.

  • No hookups. Max RV length: 36 ft

There is a dump-station. All campsites include a fire pit and picnic table. The campground offers cold outdoor showers and chemical toilets.

San Mateo Campground

A 1.5-mile Nature Trail connects the campground to Trestles Beach.

  • 157 sites. Max RV length: 36 ft. Hookup sites are available with electricity and water (no sewer).

All campsites include a fire pit and picnic table. Dump-station, hot indoor showers, flush toilets. Camping is available year-round.

Silver Strand State Beach

Beaches are on both sides of the Strand--Pacific Ocean, and San Diego Bay. Park facilities include four large parking lots, which can accommodate up to 1,000 vehicles.

1,000 parking lot camping sites:

  • Camping is available for self-contained vehicles, motor-homes, or trailers.

Restroom and cold showers are available on each side of the park. Beach restrooms are for Day-Use visitors. Fire rings for cookouts are available on the beach during summer. Dogs are allowed only in the day use and camping area parking lots, on a leash no longer than 6 ft. AT&T Wi-Fi Service available (no fee to AT&T customers).
