MODEL YACHT POND

The Model Yacht Pond is used for both sail and power model boats in races and regattas. The turf area south of the pond is a lovely area with plenty of shade trees and a fairly large grass area, excellent for picnics. There are restrooms available on site.

Location & Directions:
Open from 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Located on Vacation Isle, between Vacation Isle East and Vacation Isle West, just south of the Paradise Point Resort & Spa.

From I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 1 bridge then make a left at the stop light to West Vacation Road. Parking is free.


BONITA COVE

West Bonita Cove has a large playground with a tot lot and there is access to the water with a lifeguard on duty. Fire rings, picnic tables, and barbeque grills are also located at this park. East Bonita Cove has a comfort station (restrooms) with a beach rinse-off shower.

Location & Directions
Open 4:00 am to 10:00 pm. Bonita Cove is located near South Mission Beach at 1100 West Mission Bay Drive. Free parking lots.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit.
Turn right onto West Mission Bay Dr and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Dr and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side.


CROWN POINT

Crown Point North has one picnic shelter, picnic tables, barbeque grills, fire rings, and a small tot lot nearby. There is also a swimming area staffed with a lifeguard in the summer months and a comfort station with a beach rinse-off shower at this site.

Crown Point Middle is a large grassy park near the bay and has fire rings, picnic tables, and barbeque grills. There is also a boat launch and public-use (challenge) basketball courts. The restrooms are at the north and south end of Crown Point.

Crown Point South has a large sandy beach with a grass area that is smaller than North and Middle. There is a comfort station with a beach rinse off shower, fire rings, picnic tables, and barbeque grills.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 2 bridges, then go right onto Crown Point Drive. Several large free parking lots will be on the right-hand side.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 2 bridges then go right onto Crown Point Drive. Several large free parking lots will be on the right-hand side.


DE ANZA COVE

De Anza Cove park has a volleyball area, a tot lot, park benches, picnic tables, and a path for jogging or bike riding. There is also a boat launch ramp, for both boats and jet skis, and a comfort station with showers. Swimming, boating and water skiing are allowed and there is a lifeguard on duty for the summer months. A sand lot that can be used for Over The Line (OTL) games is also nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Located at 3000 East Mission Drive in North Mission Bay.

Take I-5 to the Clairemont Drive Exit, head West to East Mission Bay Drive, then right to North Mission Bay Drive. This road goes into the parking lot of De Anza Cove. Parking is free in these lots.


FIESTA ISLAND

Fiesta Island is a large area of land centrally located in Mission Bay. The island provides a habitat for many shorebirds and the sandy beach of the western shore is a nesting area for the snowy plover. There is a large California least tern protected nesting site at the northern tip of the island. The Fiesta Island Youth Camp and the Aquatic Center are on the island. On the east side of the island there is a 5 MPH zone that is popular for recreational water sports. There are bonfire rings around the shore of the island and dogs are allowed off leash. There is a "permitted" water ski area in Hidden Cove and permits for water skiing only are available from the Lifeguards at their headquarters, 2581 Quivera Court.

Facilities: There are no restrooms available.

Open 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
From I-5, take the Sea World Drive exit and head southwest. Make a right onto East Mission Bay Drive, then left to Fiesta Island. There is parking throughout the island.


HOSPITALITY POINT

Hospitality Point is a large grassy park with views of Mission Bay, the San Diego River and the ocean. There are picnic tables, a picnic shelter, fire rings, and a path for jogging or bike riding. Restrooms nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Located at the south end of Quivira Way in the 2500 block.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit, turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Make a left at the light onto Quivira Road and continue to the traffic circle. Free parking in lots.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit, turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Make a left at the light onto Quivira Road and continue to the traffic circle. Free parking in lots.


MARINER'S POINT

Mariner’s Point is a large sandy peninsula off of Bonita Cove. The tip of Mariner’s Point is a Least Tern nesting area and park users must be at least 500 feet away from this protected area. There is a picnic shelter and restrooms available. There is no swimming allowed in this area.

Open 4:00 am to 10:00 pm.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the free parking lot will be on your left.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the free parking lot will be on your left.


MISSION POINT

Mission Point has a tot lot playground, picnic tables, park benches, fire rings and a path for jogging or bike riding. There is access to the water for swimming although there is no lifeguard on duty. Also has a comfort station with showers. Dogs on leashes are allowed before 9:00 am and after 6:00 pm.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 10:00 pm. Mission Point is located at the south end of Mission Blvd, at 2600 Bayside Lane.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and make a left onto Mission Blvd and continue to the end, turning left into the free parking lot.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge make a left onto Mission Blvd and continue to the end, turning left in to the free parking lot.


PLAYA

Playa, aka Playa Pacifica or Information Cove South. There is a swimming area here with a lifeguard on duty during the summer months. Also a tot lot, a picnic shelter, basketball courts, fire rings and a path for jogging or bike riding.

Facilities: Restrooms nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. South of the Visitors Information Center and north of the Hilton Hotel on East Mission Bay Drive.

Take I-5 to the Clairemont Drive exit. Head West to East Mission Bay, then south to the parking lots. Parking is free in these lots.


SKI BEACH

At Ski Beach there is a large grassy area, a picnic shelter with picnic tables, fire rings and a path for jogging or bike riding. Up to two inflatables are allowed. There is a boat launch and ski area on the south side, but no swimming is allowed. There is also a childrens playground adjacent to the picnic shelter.

Facilities: Restrooms nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Ski Beach is located on the east side of Vacation Isle off of Ingraham Street.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 1 bridge then make a right at the stop light. Parking is free in these lots.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 1 bridge then make a right at the stop light. Parking is free in these lots. Note: The parking lot by the boat launch area has parking spaces to accommodate vehicles with boat trailers.


SOUTH SHORES PARK

South Shores Park is the closest park to Sea World. It is a small park mainly for boating purposes with a boat ramp and RV Dump. There is a small grassy area with a few picnic tables around the comfort stations (restrooms).

Directions & Parking:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am.
From I-5, take the Sea World Drive exit and head southwest. The park is located before you get to Sea World and has a large parking lot, but only a handful of parking for vehicles with no trailers since the lot is mainly for vehicles with trailers. Park Patrons may park their vehicles at South Shores for 72 hours while they are out in their boats, but overnight camping is not allowed.


SUNSET POINT

Sunset Point park area in Mission Bay has picnic tables, fire rings, and a path for jogging or bike riding. Restrooms nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Located at the northwest corner of Dana Basin, to the left of the Dana Landing Resort at 1656 West Mission Bay Drive.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Make a right at the light onto Dana Landing Road and then left into the free parking lot.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Make a right at the light onto Dana Landing Road and then left into the free parking lot.


TECOLOTE SHORES NORTH

Tecolote Shores North park area has a playground, picnic tables, barbeque grills, fire rings and a path for jogging or bike riding. There is access to the water but no lifeguard on duty.

Facilities: There is a comfort station with a beach rinse-off shower.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Tecolote Shores North is located just south of the Hilton Hotel in East Mission Bay.

Take I-5 to the Clairemont Drive Exit, head West to East Mission Bay, then south past the Hilton. Parking is free in these lots.


VACATION ISLE

Vacation Isle East (east of the Model Yacht Pond) and Vacation Isle West (west of the pond) have grassy park areas with sandy beaches, picnic tables, fire rings and restrooms. There are trees which provide lots of shade. Vacation Isle East has a picnic gazebo as well.

Facilities:
There is no playground or lifeguards on duty at these parks.
There are restrooms with showers nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 10:00 pm. Located in the south end of Vacation Isle, off of Ingraham Street, across from Ski Beach.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 1 bridge then make a left at the stop light to West Vacation Road. Free parking in lot.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue straight to Ingraham Street. Cross over 1 bridge then make a left at the stop light to West Vacation Road. Free parking in lot.


VENTURA COVE

The Ventura Cove park area in Mission Bay has picnic tables, benches, and fire rings. Swimming is allowed with a lifeguard on duty during the summer months.

Facilities: Restroom with a beach shower nearby.

Location & Directions:
Open 4:00 am to 2:00 am. Located in the 1100 block of West Mission Bay Drive on the right hand side of the street, after crossing the channel.

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd exit. Turn right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Cross the bridge and the free parking lot is on the right-hand side. There is also some street parking nearby.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Turn right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Cross the bridge and the free parking lot is on the right-hand side. There is also some street parking nearby.
